On a remote salt-producing island, Juminten, a mute and deaf young woman from a poor family, falls in love with Manto, the only son of the wealthy and influential Sandosa family. Their relationship is strongly opposed by Salma, Manto’s mother, who believes Juminten is unworthy of becoming part of their family. Driven by his love for Juminten, Manto leaves the island with her and starts a new life in Yogyakarta. Eight years later, they live a peaceful and modest life with their eight-year-old daughter, Saskia. Their lives change when Salma invites them to return to the island. She claims to have forgiven them and wishes to meet her granddaughter. Hoping to rebuild the family bond that was broken years ago, Juminten and her family accept the invitation.
